Rio Grande Valley Women Poet Society
What began as five women sharing their hearts and verses has blossomed into a sisterhood of over 100 voices across South Texas. We believe every woman has a story worth telling and a voice worth hearing.

How five voices became a movement
One day, five women gathered together to talk about poetry, life, and the unique borderland experiences that shape us. Somewhere in that heartfelt conversation, an idea was born: the Rio Grande Valley Women Poets Society. We realized our community needed more women writing poetry, speaking their truths, and carving out spaces where their authentic stories could echo without limits.

A sanctuary for connection and creativity
What started with just five members quickly grew into a vibrant community of more than 100 writers, dreamers, and storytellers. Yet, the Society has become about so much more than verse on a page. Our core mission is to create a safe, welcoming haven where women can openly speak, write, and unpack their journeys—regardless of age, background, profession, title, or life circumstance.

Rooted in courage and sisterhood
Founded on connection, courage, artistic expression, and unwavering sisterhood, the Rio Grande Valley Women Poets Society continues to give women a place to express themselves freely. We continue uplifting local borderland voices and championing the transformative power of women's poetry.
